dead big bird
A couple of days ago, I pointed out that dead birds were apparently panicking downtown Austin. (and thanks so much to the wife for the pic from this link). So far, we’ve gotten no more information about whatever happened, beyond ‘we don’t think it’s bad for humans’.

Will sent me an AIM pointing out that we’re not the only ones with peculiar avian difficulties – the Aussies also are reporting an epidemic of dead birds. (Update: A new story has hit CNN). Never to be outdone by us soft Americans, there are at least an order of magnitude more dead birds in Oz.

I sure hope its not the end times, cuz then I’d feel guilty about making fun of it all.

Update: Links are hard. Also, another reader has pointed out a recent rash of dead ducks in Idaho. Yet another reader pointed out this story from Colorado. I swear, if a global extinction event wipes out all fowl on this earth, I’m going to be cranky. I like my fried chicken!
