Nobody asked, but: here are, in my opinion, the best game reviews of all time.
3) “Chess”, by Greg Kasavin.
2) “World War II Online” by Lum the Mad.
1) “Anne McCaffrey’s Freedom First” by Old Man Murray.
Anyone have any better candidates?

Kieron Gillen’s piece on Deus Ex is always a good read.

Not technically reviews, not necessarily better, but still great:

Not really a review as much as a news article commenting on the lack of reviews prior to release of Assassins Creed: Unity, oh and the bugs.

To be honest though I’m reconciled to bugs on launch day, that’s a large part of why I no longer rush out and purchase a game straight away. What I look for is how committed the publisher/developers are to fixing the bugs. So wait a month or so and then dive in, although in fairness this is a lot easier as an adult with a host of other time consuming commitments that eat up my free time.
Apart from ‘Elite: Dangerous’ as soon as I found out about the heir to Elite I was on that like a 14 year old fanboy. I just wish I’d heard about it while it was still in kickstarter :/
You are neglecting every review by JEFF K!!!, which are clearly teh bestest ones evar! 😉 4 exempul :;: http://www.somethingawful.com/hosted/jeffk/tomorrowind/
Edge’s Doom review: “If only you could talk to these creatures…”

Also from Edge, Ste Curran’s Halo CE review. IIRC it was one of the very first reviews released, and he nailed his description of the combat’s appeal better than most of the retrospectives on the game that have been published in the years since.

And like some of those linked above, one that isn’t really a review – Rock Paper Shotgun’s recent look at the FIFA 15 demo:

Because I only like reviews that start with a 2500 word review of a different game

You should just say “every Old Man Murray review.”
Not so much a review, but the Ironman run of FarCry2 by Ben Abraham was pretty great. http://drgamelove.blogspot.com/2009/12/permanent-death-complete-saga.html
